The Outlines of Botanical Geography shows the geographic distribution of different plant species (phytogeography). Created in 1849 from information collected by the Prussian geographer, naturalist, and explorer Alexander von Humboldt, this beautiful chart contains a set of integrated pieces. The top chart maps the distribution of plants along the elevational profile of five different climate locations. The bottom half maps the geographic distribution of plants by twenty-five regions across the world. The combination of maps, elevations and engravings creates a beautiful overall design.
