11th Airborne Division Campaign Map
Campaigns of the 11th Airborne Division is a visual history of the The Angels division during World War II.
The 11th Airborne division was activated at Camp Mackall, N.C., Feb. 25, 1943 with Maj. Gen. Joseph M. Swing as the commanding officer. After a year of training in the U.S., the 11th Airborne arrived in New Guinea in May 1944 and continued their training, leaving for the Philippines in November 1944. The division landed amphibiously on Leyte 18 November 1944.
