The M4 medium tank was one of the most famous and most widely produced tanks of World War II. Known as the Sherman, it was named by the British after the Civil War general William T. Sherman. Considered by many as the best all-around tank of the Western Allies, the Sherman had its US Army combat debut in November 1942 during the invasion of North Africa.

Three large hand-drawn illustrations detail classic versions of the Sherman including the original M4 model; the M4A3E8, also known as the Easy Eight; and the M4A3E2 Jumbo.
